High Schools Drama Festival Invites Ian von Memerty as be Guest Star
The PE Opera House is very proud to announce that the brilliant entertainer, Ian von Memerty, has accepted an invitation to be the guest star at the Final Evening and Gala Concert on Wednesday, 8 August at 19:00 of the General Motors South Africa High Schools Drama Competition. Ian will be entertaining the audience in between the performances of the four finalists in this year’s Competition. He will be accompanied on the piano by local musician, Debbie Quick.
There will be 17 schools in the final and prizes of R24 000 will be awarded in various catogries
Apart from Mr Von Memerty’s presence, the Gala Evening will also boast another well known theatre personality in the person of Ms June van Merch, one of the adjudicators of the Competition. |

The show runs from Thursday, 9 August until Saturday, 11 August. Performances take place at 2pm and 6pm on 9th and 11th, and 3pm and 6pm on the 10 August. The afternoon performances are also geared towards accommodating large groups from our local and surrounding junior schools. The show will take place in the Barn Theatre, PE Opera House.
Annaline Stiglingh heads up this group as director, with Garth Tavares as Musical Director, Bennie Gerber as Choreographer and Almareth du Preez seeing to set, costumes, props and make-up. |

Geetanjali is a non-profit community based organization which has serves the cultural needs of the Nelson Mandela Bay community for many years now, and perform regularly at community events and festivals, as well as local and provincial government functions. The production, “Celebration of Dance” will feature various dance artists performing African, ballet, hip hop, Indian classical, folk, bollywood and contemporary dance items. Dance schools and companies featured will be Lwezonke African Dance School, Toynbee Ballet Academy, Vadhini Indian Arts Academy of Cape Town and off course Geetanjali. |
